Mari Mander's Reflection on Reader Ministry >>
'Cowboy Kev' (alias Reader Kevin Onn) reports from Canada... It is now 6 weeks that I have been in Canada and Im sat here in the blazing sunshine at 3.30 in the afternoon. I have been fixing up shelves and stopping water leaks. And fixing kitchen doors. In other words I am relaxing a bit. Yesterday while driving back from dropping the kids at the school bus stop coming over the mountain I saw 2 moose a mother and yearling. Unfortunately I couldnt start the camera quick enough to capture them on film. They run so quick. I did however get a deer and a rabit on film. The garden is looking pretty good even though we had another setback of an early morning frost which took a third of the zucinni ( corgettes) out.We have to water every day because it is so dry and dusty. It reminds me of the old western films of the dust bowl. Everything is coated with dust. The weatherman say we are due some rain but not until next week.I am asking God to take care of Roy the owners partner and make him well. He is 37 and for the last 7 years has done everything arround the ranch but now he is in pain with his back feet shoulders hands. He just does not know how to carry on and if I am here to help I do not do a very good job. He is as strong as an ox and normally he can move almost anything. He has tried to teach me to use the small digger but he does it so well I am not a patch on him.Unfortunately he has introduced me to cider and the flavours from the Okanagan valley are really good and a six pack is 10 dollars about 5 or 6 pounds!
